About me
I was born in Bien Hoa, Vietnam, and immigrated to the United States at a young age. Growing up in a multicultural environment, I was constantly surrounded by diverse experiences that shaped my view of the world. I pursued Biology and Latin at Regis University and later expanded my knowledge with studies at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on the History of Medicine. Currently, I am scientist at a research institute.
Alongside my academic and research journey, I developed a passion for writing stories that reflect my passion for science, medicine, history, and the richness of one’s own culture. I want to show readers a glimpse into both real and imagined worlds where they can see themselves and their cultures represented.
My literary debut came with the publication of A Step into Adventure, a bilingual children’s picture book that celebrates adventure and the joy of discovery. Since then, I have authored multiple children's books, including A Tết to Remember and The Wind That Carries Petals Away.
As an immigrant and first-generation student, I faced many challenges, from language barriers to understanding the complexities of higher education in a new country. These experiences fueled my passion for advocating for immigrant and refugee education and wellbeing. This advocacy work is reflected in my nonprofit initiative, We V-Care, which provides resources and guidance for immigrant families, particularly those in the Vietnamese community, helping them navigate healthcare, civic, and educational systems in the United States.
